Learn Japanese grammar: (to sureba) / (to shitara) / (to suru to). Meaning: in the case of~; assuming~; if A then B (conditional).

These are all conditional grammar patterns. Meaning if [A] happens, then [B] will also happen.

These three patterns are mostly interchangeable, though there are some slight differences:

  • とすれば (to sureba)
    • examples 1~3.
  • としたら (to shitara) = more colloquial.
    • examples 4~6.
  • とすると (to suru to) = seems more likely to happen.
    • examples 7~9.

NOTE: Using (to suru to), can give a bit of a stronger implication that the action is more likely to happen.
