い-adjective + い

Learn Japanese grammar: と (to). Meaning: whenever [A] happens, [B] also happens.

Do not confuse this with the と (to) connecting particle.

と - Example Sentences 例文

ラーメンを毎日食べると太りますよ。

ラーメンをまいにちたべるとふとりますよ。

raamen o mainichi taberu to futorimasu yo.

If you eat ramen everyday, you're gonna gain weight.

Example #2

寝る前に甘い物を食べると虫歯になります。

ねるまえにあまいものをたべるとむしばになります。

neru mae ni amai mono o taberu to mushiba ni narimasu.

If you eat sweets before going to bed, you will get a cavity.

Example #3

私の彼氏は酒を飲むと顔が赤くなる。

わたしのかれしはさけをのむとかおがあかくなる。

watashi no kareshi wa sake o nomu to kao ga akaku naru.

Whenever my boyfriend drinks, his face gets red.

勉強するの場所が静かだとよく集中できます。

べんきょうするのばしょがしずかだとよくしゅうちゅうできます。

benkyou suru no basho ga shizuka da to yoku shuuchuu dekimasu.

When the place I study at is quiet, I am able to concentrate very well.

Example #5

このボタンを押すと、両方のドアが開きますよ。

このボタンをおすと、りょうほうのドアがあきますよ。

kono botan o osu to, ryouhou no doa ga akimasu yo.

If you press this button, both doors will open.

Example #6

最初の角を右に曲がると、銀行が見えます。

さいしょのかどをみぎにまがると、ぎんこうがみえます。

saisho no kado no migi ni magaru to, ginkou ga miemasu.

If you turn right at the first corner, you will be able to see the bank.

N2を持たないと高い給料の仕事が手に入らない。

N2をもたないとたかいきゅうりょうのしごとがてにはいらない。

N2 o motanai to takai kyuuryou no shigoto ga te ni hairanai.

If you don't have the JLPT N2, you won't be able to get a high salary job.

JLPT Senseiを検索すると僕のホームページが出ますよ。

JLPT Senseiをけんさくするとぼくのホームページがでますよ。

JLPT Sensei o kensaku suru to boku no hoomu peeji ga demasu yo.

Example #9

この機械にお金を入れて、食べたい物のボタンを押すと、食券が出ます。

このきかいにおかねをいれて、たべたいもののボタンをおすと、しょっけんがでます。

kono kikai ni okane o irete, tabetai mono no botan o osu to, shokken ga demasu.

Put your money in this machine and if you push the button for the food you want to eat a meal ticket will come out.
