Learn Japanese grammar: (ga/mo~nara, ~mo~da). Meaning: negative connection/comparison (like father like son).

This is used to connect two people/things with a close relationship and express them both in a negative way.

It is very similar to the English expression like [father] like [son], though this grammar is only used negatively in Japanese.

sensei ga sensei nara, gakusei mo gakusei da.
Like teacher like student. (with a bad teacher like this of course the students are also bad)

aji ga aji nara, saabisu mo saabisu da.
With bad taste like this, of course the service is also bad.

kono resutoran wa ten'in no taido ga warui shi, ryouri mo oishikunai. ten'in ga ten'in nara, aji mo aji desu ne.
This restaurant's staff has a poor attitude and the food is not good. With staff like this, of course the food is also no good.
