This used to either:

  1. give examples; things like… (see examples 1~2).
  2. show modesty (see examples 3~4).
  3. make light of; belittling something (see examples 5~8).

How are なんか・なんて・など different?

  • なんか -> nanka = informal (used in spoken Japanese).
  • なんて -> nante = less formal (used in spoken Japanese).
  • など -> nado = more formal (mostly used in written Japanese).
