Learn Japanese grammar: (teiru tokoro). Meaning: in the process of doing; in the middle of doing.

This can express either:

  • now in this exact moment.
  • now in general.

It is often followed with だ or です.

  • ているところだ (teiru tokoro da).
  • ているところです (teiru tokoro desu).

This book covers all of the grammar that you need to know to pass the JLPT N4, and includes great practice excercises. One down side though, is it's mostly in Japanese, but that will help you in the long run.
