Learn Japanese grammar: 直す【なおす】(naosu). Meaning: to do something again.

直す (naosu) means to fix. Adding this after a verb in stem form expresses doing something again in order to fix something.

このさくぶんはミスがおおいから、かきなおしたほうがいいよ。

kono sakubun wa misu ga ooi kara, kakinaoshita hou ga ii yo.

This essay has a lot of mistakes, so you should do a rewrite.

彼に電話を掛け直すようにお願いしてもらえますか。

かれにでんわをかけなおすようにおねがいしてもらえますか。

kare ni denwa o kake naosu you ni onegai shite moraemasu ka.

Could you ask him to call me back?

私はその仕事をやり直すことになる。

わたしはそのしごとをやりなおすことになる。

watashi wa sono shigoto o yarinaosu koto ni naru.

I ended up having to do that job over again.

家が古くなってきたので、建て直そうと思っています。

いえがふるくなってきたので、たてなおそうとおもっています。

ie ga furukute kita node, tatenaosou to omotte imasu.

This house is starting to get old, so I am thinking to have it rebuilt.

あなたはその方法を分かりやすく書き直すべきです。

あなたはそのほうほうをわかりやすくかきなおすべきです。

anata wa sono houhou o wakari yasuku kakinaosu beki desu.

You should rewrite that methodology so that it is easier to understand.

彼は人生をもう一度やり直す決心をした。

かれはじんせいをもういちどやりなおすけっしんをした。

kare wa jinsei o mou ichido yarinaosu kesshin o shita.

He decided to start his life over again.

その提案はもう一度見直してください。

そのていあんはもういちどみなおしてください。

sono teian wa mou ichido minaoshite kudasai.

Please review your proposal one more time.

転職を考えていたが、先輩の話を聞いて、考え直すことにした。

てんしょくをかんがえていたが、せんぱいのはなしをきいて、かんがえなおすことにした。

tenshoku o kangaete ita ga, senpai no hanashi o kiite, kangaenaosu koto ni shita.

I was thinking about changing jobs, but after listening to my senior, I decided to reconsider.
