Learn Japanese grammar: (ni seyo) / (ni shiro). Meaning: even if; regardless; whether… or ~.

Both of these can be used interchangeably.

Single use にせよ/ にしろ

With a single use, the meaning is closer to: regardless of; even if.

Single Example 1

nani ni seyo / nani ni shiro

anyhow; in any case

Single Example 2

ikura isogashii ni seyo

No matter how busy you may be..

Multi use にせよ/ にしろ

When used twice in the same sentence, the meaning is mostly the same, but adds an “or” between the two items being introduced.

kuru ni seyo konai ni seyo.

Whether you will come or not.

ねつがさがったにせよ、しばらくあんせいがひつようです。
netsu ga sagatta ni seyo, shibaraku ansei ga hitsuyou desu.
Even if your fever has gone down, you still need to rest.

けっせきするにせよれんらくはしてください。
kesseki suru ni seyo renraku wa shite kudasai.
Even if you will be absent, please contact us.
Example #3

じこでじてんしゃがめちゃくちゃになったが、なににしろ、だれもけがをしなくてよかった。
jiko de jitensha ga mechakucha ni natta ga, nani ni shiro, daremo kega o shinakute yokatta.
My bike got pretty messed up in an accident, but at any rate, I'm just glad nobody was hurt.

ここはふべんでどのえきにいくにせよ、とほで30ぷんいじょうかかる。
koko wa fuben de dono eki ni iku niseyo, toho de 30 pun ijou kakaru.
This place is really inconvenient, no matter which station you go to will take at least 30 minutes by foot.

くるにせよこないにせよ、かならずれんらくをいれてください。
kuru ni seyo konai ni seyo, kanarazu renraku o irete kudasai.
Whether you will come or not, please make sure to inform us.
