Learn Japanese grammar: (tsu~tsu). Meaning: and ~ (indicates two contrasting actions happening continuously / repetitively).

Two different verb sets can be used:

  1. Opposite verbs 「行きつ~戻りつ」(iki tsu ~ modori tsu) coming and going
  2. Active & passive verbs 「押しつ~押されつ」(oshi tsu ~ osare tsu) pushing and being pushed

まいにちおしつおされつのまんいんでんしゃにのってかいしゃにかようのは、しょうじきしんどい。
mainichi oshi tsu osare tsu no man'in densha ni notte kaisha ni kayou no wa, shoujiki shindoi.
To be honest, it's hard to go to the office on a crowded train being pushed back and forth every day.

watashi to kare wa mochi tsu motare tsu no kankei de, kodomo no koro kara otagai tasukeatte kimashita.

そのえいがは、けいかんとはんにんがおいつおわれつのてんかいでハラハラするものだったよ。
sono eiga wa, keikan to hannin ga oi tsu oware tsu no tenkai de harahara suru mono datta yo.
In that movie, the cop and the criminal play cat and mouse, leading to a pretty thrilling development.
