夫はいつも仕事にかこつけて帰りが遅いです。
おっとはいつもしごとにかこつけてかえりがおそいです。
otto wa itsumo shigoto ni kako tsukete kaeri ga osoi desu.
My husband always comes home late with work as his excuse.

友人の結婚式にかこつけて彼女はたくさん服を買った。
ゆうじんのけっこんしきにかこつけてかのじょはたくさんふくをかった。
yuujin no kekkonshiki ni kako tsukete kanojo wa takusan fuku o katta.
Using the excuse of attending her best friend's wedding, she bought a lot of clothes.

私は風邪にかこつけて、学校を休んでゲームをした。
わたしはかぜにかこつけて、がっこうをやすんでゲームをした。
watashi wa kaze ni kako tsukete, gakkou o yasunde geemu o shita.
I used my cold as an excuse to stay home from school and play games.

子供の入学式にかこつけて、自分の新しいスーツを買ってきた。
こどものにゅうがくしきにかこつけて、じぶんのあたらしいスーツをかってきた。
kodomo no nyuugakushiki ni kako tsukete, jibun no atarashii suutsu o katte kita.
Using my child's school entrance ceremony as an excuse, I bought a new suit for myself.

かれはちちおやのびょうきにかこつけていっしゅうかんをやすみたかったのだ。
kare wa chichioya no byouki ni kako tsukete isshuukan o yasumitakatta noda.
He used the excuse that his father was sick and wanted to take a week off.

よくしゅっちょうにかこつけて、かれはあいじんとりょこうへいった。
yoku shutchou ni kako tsukete, kare wa aijin to ryokou e itta.
